Animal-Man #9

Animal-man #9 is out, and i guess this is the first of my official run because i'm doing the whole art job. New characters and mysterious special guests make this a big fun story.

Hotwire: Deep Cut

Hotwire: Deep Cut arrives at comic shops today. This second series is a Bi-monthly and follows on six months after the events in Hotwire: Requiem for the dead- it should be a blast!
This story has some (but not alot) of personal growth for Alice, and an insight into what it's like being a deceased in a future where "the dead don't depart"
Episode one: "BAD DOGS GET THE PIPE WRENCH"
Updates on twitter and facebook.

Hotwire Trade paperback

The Hotwire trade paperback is due out imminently. It reprints Requiem for the Dead, with an extra few story pages, and also includes a ton of extra material and sketches. One of the extras is a newly coloured, re-scripted and generally tarted up short story featuring Hotwire and Filthy. This is probably the only time you'll see Alice in the original hotwire costume!

The Devil Men

The Devil Men
is a short story written by Paul Neal that I drew right before starting the first "Hotwire" mini series. Paul is planning to publish an anthology of his writing and has commissioned a number of artists, including Glenn Fabry, John McCrea and Dylan Teague to illustrate his stories. It's great, weird stuff. All being well, I hope to see it in print soonish.

HOTWIRE #4

Hotwire #4 hits the printers. I went out to the San Diego comiccon and met the legendary Harry Knowles, it turns out he loves the book and name checks us in his round up of the show! As a cool bonus he recommends Kristen Bell as a good choice to play Alice on screen. I would definitely trust Kristen Bell with Alice, she's frighteningly smart!

PIN-UP!

Iiiiiiiiit's a pin-up!
done for DarkHorse's Unbound Saga one shot. The conceit is that the characters have been around in comics for years and these are old covers from past adventures.

FREEDOM FORMULA

FREEDOM FORMULA
here's a cover i did for Radical Comic's FREEDOM FORMULA series. It's a Sci-Fi adventure featuring street racing mechas, very cool. I originally had the guy sliding towards the reader on his back, but that seemed to confuse everybody!

PIRATED- AAR!

DCP >scan on the left
Original
on the right

So Shark-Man has turned up in a CBR pirate version, scanned by some guys named Team DCP.
How do i feel about it?
Well i dunno really.
Yeah, I'm kinda flattered in one way, but it's not like i can rationalize at it as an advert for a live concert in the way a musician can. It took three hard months to put Shark-Man #2 together, and we're not making much back. There's the "reaching a wider audience" thing i guess, and there's no glory in being a moody old f*ck about it.
heh, I'm such a control freak. I almost feel like sending them the original art files- I'd spent two nights just getting the colour separations right for the printers, and it kills me to think kids are ending up reading such a bleached out VHS copy!

Alice's parka

...is gone. Here's the final costume for Detective Exorcist Alice Hotwire, still with the hood and red longjohns, though. Detective Mobey glowers manfully at back.

Shark-Man #2

Shark-Man #2 released today at comic-con San Diego.
Bubble trouble for the caped cod!

spooky cop girl spirit hunter!

Hey, looks like Hotwire's finally happening.

"Radical Publishing executive Barry Levine, co-founder and Senior VP Jesse Berger and Co-Publisher and Editor in Chief David Elliott, will be debuting their new company to the world at booth #2701, July 25th-29th at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con tradeshow"

...and Alice is all set to join in. There's some art in the Hotwire gallery to get the feel of what she's about, but for fun, here's a toon drawing of Alice H.
I originally wanted to draw a manga style Alice, hence the "Engrish" captions, (I love Engrish, it's like accidental poetry!) but she ended up a looking a bit Ronald Searle around the eyes, so i went with it .
And here's a link to the Comic Book Resources story on Radical Publishing.

Shark-man

Photoshop Creative is a new Photoshop related tutorial and review magazine.
In this month's issue is a featurette about me, with some colour Shark-man art included in it's article about illustrators.
I don't really get to share any pearls of photoshoppy wisdom, but they did make my name nice and big, so fair play!

Hotwire

Hotwire, a character I co-created with Warren Ellis, finally gets a life beyond pin-ups in her first published short story. It's named "Filthy", and will be printed in Atomeka Publishing's "Bojeffries Terror Tomes #1"

Alice Hotwire is a detective-exorcist for the London Metropolitan Police, and although she works in the ghost capital of the world, she's treated little better than the city rat-catcher.
Written and drawn by me, details on publication dates as i get 'em....

Popbot

Popbot reader #1 pin-up featuring Ashley Wood's top tech tin ribbed robot, is available now, and contains a overly saucy little pin-up by me...you can buy it online from IDW Publishing
(I had to buy my own copy off ebay, which is a bit stingy of them for a fully painted illustration, i think!)
